Ghost
Dog-The Way of the Samurai - This film by Jim Jarmusch
is one of the best Samurai movies ever made. Forget that it
is in the US and not a Japanese person. Forest Whitaker is
the perfect choice for a street-smart samurai "hitman" in
America. He has such a convincing calmness in everything he
does, whether wiping out a mafia den, or talking to a little
girl in the park encouraging her to read. He draws his gun
as if it were a sword (and practices some grea sword moves
also). This movie is much more philosophically accurate than
Japanese "Ronin" films. This is about a true Samurai who is
loyal to one Retainer, who happens to be a low level mafia
boss. US Region 1 DVD. - $20
